Profile
I currently split my time between Scotland and Denmark. I was born in Dundee in 1971. I studied Illustration and printmaking at Duncan of Jordanstone College of art, graduating with a first class honours degree in 1993.
I lived and worked in Edinburgh for 12 years working as an Artist/Illustrator. Jobs included:Botanical Illustrator at the Royal Botanical Gardens and Archaeological Illustrator at the National Museum of Scotland. I painted and exhibited regularly whilst in those jobs.
I draw inspiration for my paintings by studying the Scottish landscape and the wild and varied weather that affects it. I sketch on site and work from those sketches in the studio to produce the finished paintings. Using oil on canvas the paintings are built up with layers of paint and glazes. My preferred area to paint is the north west of Scotland. I recently completed a suite of work featuring the Outer Hebrides.
My work features in many private collections in the UK and worldwide, including New Zealand, Canada and Norway.
